had PSGM with the sec 1s today. the topic was humility, so I think I used that *ahem* article from the
amazing paper published in 两个语言 to really good effect. thanks daniel. haha :D . The Sec 1s are getting harder and harder to handle by the session. they just seem bent on making me lose my voice before CNY. -.-
went shopping for clothes at J8 with Koonz and Theo after that. none of us bought anything though. I've never actually tried shopping at J8 before. and after today i only have one word to describe the "shoppableness" of J8.
pathetic.
had quite a meaningful discussion with Ms Goh during CLE today. about the meaning of life. What is life exactly? The more "square" people would say that it's the transitition between your existence as a zygote to being a pile of ashes, while the more well-versed, poetic and articulate literary people (like 4K :D) would call it things like a box of chocolates, a vacuum cleaner (lol) and for the more Freudian people (yay rich i used your fav word! :O), a sperm - either you swim the length or die infertile. Well, here's my take:
Public service message: If you don't have time on your hands, please do NOT allow me to bore you for the next few paragraphs, and feel free to skip all the way to the last few lines of my post.------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Life's like a journey through a treacherous jungle. There are times when the trees will block out the light, making the path dark and gloomy, and yet there are times when the trees will clear, allowing the warmth of the sun to set on your skin, lighting the path ahead for you. On the way, one will have to make choices between different paths in the jungle. Make all the right choices, and one is blessed with a smooth journey through the jungle and out into the light. Yet, no one can ever make the right choice all the time. Once you take a wrong turn, you will have to brave through whatever obstacles may face you on that path, for there is never any turning back. Whether it be deadly vines, or ferocious animals, one must give all he can to survive the obstacles, such that he may have a chance to continue on his journey. After all, what doesn't kill you makes you stronger doesn't it?
Along the way, you will also meet many other people who like you, are lost in the jungle, trying to find the best way through this journey of life. Some, the nicer ones, will offer you a drink of water , strike up a conversation, and after spending some meaningful time with you on the way, will become your friend for life, and stick with you all the way till the end. Most of the others however, would either just give you a wave and walk by, or even completely ignore you. These people of course, will have no impact on you whatsoever. And yet, one must also never forget the group of people who will be out to harm you, kill you for your supplies, or set wild animals on you just because they think you have "offended" them. These people are of course, your enemies. At the end of the day, everyone you meet along the way will make a difference in your life, and whether you learn how to treasure these people, will have an impact on your chances of making it out at the end of it all.
The unfortunate ones on this journey of life either make too many wrong choices, or are too weak to overcome the obstacles they face. These people will sadly die off along the way, and at the end of the day, the people who can make it to the green pastures at the other end of the jungle, those who, despite all the blood, sweat and tears they have shed along the way, have still braved through to the very end, can deservedly call themselves the victors, and enjoy all the wonderful things the rest of life has to offer them.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Yet, if you refuse to be bored by such a lengthy, philosophical theory, I have something else to offer you, equally if not more meaningful if i should say so myself.
Life is what you want it to be.
