Just read an article in Gen Y of Sunday Times, concerning this crazy kid who used to be so addicted to online gaming that he spent up to 24 hours a day staring at the comp till his eyeballs popped out. What's more ironic is, the game he went all goo goo ga ga over was Maple! Like wtf. Still, the guy did manage to gain control over his own soul at the end, and is now restricting himself to like 2 hours a day or something, which is still alot more than most of us get, but is a mark improvement from his berserk 24 hours a day. Oh ya im actually doing on that article for the English blog, so if you want a politically correct version of this post go to rantsofwisdom.blogspot.com yea?

Anyway, I had read another 2 articles about online gaming not too long ago too, the first of which was by Edwin Yeo. Apparently he thinks that teens gaming addiction cannot be blamed on online gaming itself, instead should be blamed on the environment around the kid or the stress that he faces, and also the fact that their parents dunno how to well, parent. In other words, he is saying that online gaming: good, parents who don't know how to control their kid: no good. And damn I can't agree with him more. Hahaha. When the kids go bad, blame it on the parents! the teachers! Although sometimes the kids are really damn horrible and even someone like SuperNanny cannot do anything about them -.-

Proof that some parents really need therapy: 2nd article I read. About a girl who actually dropped out of school for 1 year to play CS. Non-stop. Crazy right? She even said she wanted to like join international gaming competitions or something. And when asked why they let her do so, the parents simply said, "She doesn't want to go to school anymore, so since she insisted on dropping out to play for a year, there's nothing we can do." (Not the exact quote though, just something in that essence) I mean like wtf? I understand that leaving her in school to feel miserable for a whole year is useless, but it's like the parents don't worry about what it would do to their kids' future. As parents they couldn't possibly let their kid do something so ridiculous. And yet they did. -.- Simply shocking.

Damn. Edwin Yeo is just abbbsolutely spot on.
