As anyone would probably know, the time of CTs(Common Tests, also commonly known as Crazy Torture) has dawned. As such, everyone is slowly but surely entering mugging mode. Of course there's the handful who still misses slacking. Ok maybe I can safely say everyone misses slacking, maybe except the pros like Jiahui, Wenjie or Yu Hsuen. Then again Wenjie has the time to randomly nudge his msn contacts and act blur when pple ask him what he wants, so he must be a damn free, lifeless and slacking guy -.- For the two years I have been in RI I have always been intrigued by the CT system in our school.
From the very start they tell us how wonderful the system is for us, how we completely do not have exams, and yet how the weightage from exams will be spread out in assignments. So we go:ok...fine...So no exams. That rocks, right? And as we go past the years some of us do notice the difference in standard and difficulty between CTs and your regular exams, and we are sort of relieved we get to avoid these exams + 'O' Levels. The intriguing thing is, it's the teachers who are worried about the system THEY themselves set up. Whenever they tell us to mug hard for CTs, or return us badly done test papers, they go like: "We are worried for you guys, coz you don't have enough practice doing long exams. Your CTs are 1-1 half hours so we are worried you might not be able to handle long 3 hour test papers." Ok...So taking 3 hr long test papers is a skill? I mean it's not like just because our papers aren't half that long so we can't handle all those right? Aren't the teachers over-worrying and contradicting themselves?
Maybe.
